Land’s End Drone Show: Afterglow Announces Landmark Partnership with Land’s End

Afterglow Drone Shows is proud to announce a new partnership with Land’s End Landmark, bringing a spectacular Land’s End drone show experience to Cornwall for the first time as part of the iconic Magic in the Skies summer events.

Launching in summer 2026, the new drone light displays will become a regular feature of the much-loved evening programme at Land’s End, adding cutting-edge aerial storytelling to one of Cornwall’s most established visitor attractions.

For Afterglow, a Cornwall-based drone show company, this partnership marks a major milestone: delivering regular, large-scale drone shows in Cornwall at one of the UK’s most famous landmarks.

A New Era for Magic in the Skies

For more than twenty years, Land’s End has hosted its Magic in the Skies summer evenings, welcoming thousands of visitors during the school holidays for live music, food, family entertainment and spectacular night-time shows.

From 23 July to 27 August, events take place every Tuesday and Thursday evening, building towards a night-time spectacle overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

From 2026 onwards, visitors will experience something entirely new: a Land’s End drone show, where hundreds of illuminated drones take to the sky to create animated images, shapes and stories above the westernmost point of mainland Britain.

These drone displays will complement the traditional fireworks finale, creating a two-part evening spectacle that blends modern technology with the long-running Magic in the Skies celebration.

Bringing Drone Shows to Cornwall

Drone light shows are rapidly becoming one of the most exciting forms of large-scale outdoor entertainment worldwide. Through this partnership, Afterglow will deliver multiple drone displays across the summer season, giving visitors and residents the chance to experience the technology right here in Cornwall.

Designing a Land’s End drone show presents a unique creative opportunity. The open Atlantic horizon and dramatic coastal setting provide an incredible backdrop for Afterglow to show off what this drone show technology can do.

The show itself has been designed to introduce audiences to what is possible with drone show technology, while aligning with Afterglow's goals and interests. Expect nature and wildlife imagery, conservation themes, geometric formations, space-inspired visuals and evolving patterns of light, all choreographed high above the coastline.

A Word from Afterglow

Tom Wadsworth, Director of Afterglow Drone Shows, said:

“We’re really excited to be working with Land’s End. It’s one of the most iconic locations in the UK, and bringing drone shows here feels like a big step for us as a Cornish company. We’re looking forward to showing people what this technology can do and creating something that has a positive impact for the area. For many visitors this will be their first drone show, and Land’s End is an incredible place to experience it.”

A More Sustainable Way to Light the Sky

Drone light shows also offer a more sustainable way to create large-scale night-time spectacles.

Unlike fireworks, drones do not leave debris or chemical residue behind. The aircraft simply land, are recharged, and are ready to fly again.

For the Land’s End drone show programme, Afterglow is committed to operating with minimal environmental impact:

  • No debris or fallout after the show

  • Reusable aircraft and equipment

  • Low noise compared to traditional fireworks

  • Battery-powered systems are charged using renewable electricity

Where possible, drone batteries will be charged using solar power generated from Cornwall’s sunshine, reducing the carbon footprint of each display even further.

Importantly, drone shows are not replacing fireworks entirely. Instead, they are working alongside them, creating a new hybrid format that combines tradition with modern technology.
